EESTEC LC Tampere järjestää jo perinteiseksi muodostuneen syyssaunan Wurzelpeter teemalla Konetalon saunalla keskiviikkona 22.9 alkaen klo 19. EESTEC on erityisesti tieto- ja sähkötekniikan tiedekunnan opiskelijoille suunnattu kansainvälinen kerho, joka järjestää Euroopan laajuisesti erinäisiä viikon mittaisia tapahtumia luoden eurooppalaisille teekkareille mahdollisuuksia verkostoitumiseen.

Kansainvälisty nyt ja tule ratkaisemaan mitä ihmettä Wurzelpeter tarkoittaakaan. Tarjolla myös loistavaa seuraa, syötävää ja fuksipisteitä!

EESTEC LC Tampere is organizing an almost traditional sauna party with a Wurzelpeter theme at Konetalon sauna on Wednesday 22.9 starting at 7PM. EESTEC is a non-political, non-profit organization of and for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) students of universities, institutes and technical schools in Europe awarding an engineering degree. EESTEC organizes Workshops and mini-exchanges with the aim of giving european students a chance for networking with each other and of course for having fun.

Come to the sauna to hear what we have to offer and to find out what on earth Wurzelpeter means!

Nyt olisi mitä parhain tilaisuus lähteä tutustumaan Ljubljanan kauniiseen keskustaan ja mainioon baaritarjontaan. Paitsi kulttuuriin ja kanssaopiskelijoihin tutustuessa ja legendaarisia Mongolialaisia nauttiessa (Mikäli et tiedä, mikä Mongolialainen on, google it) päästään tutustumaan myös Internet markkinoinnin ihmeelliseen maailmaan!

are you sick of infinite replaying “I don’t have money because of economic crisis”. We, EESTECers from LC Ljubljana, have for sure enough of this and that is why we had put all our master minds together and came to solution that we have to do a workshop regarding this problem. And here you are, with opportunity to learn once and for all how to bypass old money making system with some simple Internet marketing techniques. All that and more you will have chance to learn on workshop “Student vs. Economic Crisis” which will take place in Ljubljana (Slovenia) between 24.10.2010 and 31.10.2010.

You heard right, we are organising workshop on which we will teach you how to use internet for making money with some incredible techniques. Some of the areas which will be included in our workshop are: SEO (Search engine optimization), niche market, keywords research, Google Adwords, affiliate marketing, blogging,… So you will actually get nice generalization of several possible techniques used by many professionals nowadays.

Moreover, there will be also practical part, where we will try to get the theory and put it into reality. In this part you will actually sell some real online products and taking commission for every successfully completed ‘operation’ .

Now let us leave the serious part of Workshop at side. As you should know, LC Ljubljana is always ON for crazy parties. Who hasn’t heard yet about “Mongolia(TM) drink“, “Hir Aj Kom, Hir Aj Go dance“, “Lamp pumpkin drink” and many many others ‘crazy’ things! Of course there will be also a trip around Slovenia where you will have chance to experience very nice–….! huh we should not uncover our whole plan. It is better to keep some secrets .

Sounds to good to be true? Wait that is not all!!! At the end of the week we will all pack our things and let bus to drive us in Kranjska Gora where we will join our International Motivational Weekend! There you will have chance to practice your soft skills during daytime (workshops) and of course at night (partying and meeting new – khm – friends ).

Saavuin perille Delftin rautatieasemalle myöhään sunnuntai-iltana. Yllätys oli melkoinen kun paikallisen Eestec LC:n edustaja oli vastassa limusiinin kanssa. Hetken päästä tapasin muut workshopin osanottajat. Paikalla oli opiskelijoita ympäri eurooppaa. Tutustuimme toisiimme aterian merkeissä.

Maanantaina alkoi varsinainen ohjelma, joka osoittautui yllättävän tapahtumantäyteiseksi. Ensimmäisenä päivänä tutustuimme Delftin teknilliseen yliopistoon ja sen eri laitoksiin ja laboratorioihin. Erityisen mielenkiintoiseksi osoittautui vierailu suurjännitelaboratoriossa sekä puhdashuoneessa, jota käytetään mikropiirien ja muiden piille suunniteltujen laitteiden valottamiseen. Saimme myös käyttöömme polkupyörät joilla pääasiallisesti liikuimme Delftissä olomme aikana. Ilta päättyi paikallisen pubin oluttarjonnan tutkiskeluun.

Tiistaina ohjelma jatkui tutustumisena Leidenin kaupunkiin ja sen yliopistoon jolla on tiivistä yhteistyötä Delftin teknillisen yliopiston kanssa. Leidenissä tutustuimme lähinnä lääketieteelliseen tekniikkaan ja sen eri variaatioihin. Pääsimme mm. harjoittelemaan ensiapua ja haavojen ompelua ja testaamaan hollantilaisten lääkärien koulutukseen käytettyä simulaattoria leikkimielisen kisailun muodossa. Iltapäivällä palasimme takaisin Delftiin ja tutustuimme mikrosirujen valotukseen erikoistuneeseen yritykseen. Yrityksen tarjoamat esitykset ja laboratoriokierros olivat mielenkiintoinen kokemus.

Keskiviikkoaamu alkoi perinteisten hollantilaisten pelien merkeissä. Osa peleistä osoittautui ennestään tutuiksi mutta joukkoon mahtui myös täysin uusia kokemuksia. Pelailun jälkeen lähdimme kaupunkisuunnistukselle Delftiin. Suunnistus osoittautui yllättävän vaikeaksi koska kohteet olivat aivan eripuolilla kaupunkia ja vihjeet melko hankalia. Suunnistuksesta selvittyämme matkasimme Haagiin, jossa paikalliset opiskelijat pitivät meille kaupunkikierroksen. Ilta päättyi Haagilaiseen diskoon, jossa DJ onnistui polttamaan koko äänentoistojärjestelmän sulakkeet. Hollantilainen klubikulttuuri osoittautui melkolailla erilaiseksi kuin suomalainen =)

Seuraavana päivänä tutustuimme paikallisiin opiskelijaprojekteihin, jotka olivat hyvin mielenkiintoisia. Näimme mm. aurinkoenergialla toimivan veneen. Projekteihin tutustumisen jälkeen suuntasimme Amsterdamiin, jossa tutustuimme kaupungin nähtävyyksiin kierroksen muodossa.

Viimeisenä varsinaisena ohjelmapäivänä suuntasimme Scheveningenin rannalle pelaamaan jalkapalloa ja ottamaan aurinkoa. Auringonottoa tosin haittasi erittäin kylmä ja kova tuuli joten lähinnä tyydyimme kiertelemään rantaa ympäri. Nähtävää kuitenkin riitti sillä rannalla oli juuri järjestetty hiekkaveistoskilpailut. Illalla meille järjestettiin grillijuhlat jossa tapasimme vielä kaikki järjestäjät ja maistelimme jokaisen osallistujan tuomia ruokaerikoisuuksia.

Lauantaina suuntasin vihdoin takaisin kotimaahan monta kokemusta ja uutta ystävää rikkaampana. Workshopiin osallistuminen oli hieno päätös ensimmäiselle opiskeluvuodelleni TTY:llä. Hollanti osoittautui uskomattoman hienoksi maaksi ja kaikki kurssilaiset mukaviksi. Workshop jää mieleeni yhtenä hienoimmista kokemuksistani tähän mennessä.

Niin, sitä minäkin ajattelin. Nyt siihen olisi huikea mahdollisuus, sillä LC Munich järjestää tapahtuman nimenomaan Oktoberfestin ympärille 29.9 – 5.10.

Tapahtumaan kuuluu toki paljon muutakin kuin Oktoberfest-alueella hillumista, esimerkiksi vierailun todella upeaan Neuschwansteinin linnaan (tsekkaa kuvia vaikka Googlesta jollet tiedä).

Koska München on kallis kaupunki, ja pirun kallis varsinkin kyseisten pippaloiden aikaan, avasti reissun hintaan tulee valitettavasti matkakulujen lisäksi 90 euron osallistumismaksu. Tapahtuma on kuitenkin varmasti ikimuistoinen, joten ilmoittaudu (osoitteeseen pekka.3.makela@tut.fi) ihmeessä mukaan, viimeistään 14.8.

Dear EESTECers,

LC Munich is proud to announce that we will organize an event never done

before: The soon-to-be-legendary Oktoberfest Exchange!

It will take place between Wednesday the 29th September and Tuesday the

5th October.

A few words regarding the concept of this exchange: There will be no

lectures, however, entertainment during your stay in Munich will be cared

for. We will accommodate you privately, since there is no way to get a

hotel spot in Munich during Oktoberfest without paying ridiculous prices.

Unfortunately we have to ask a participation fee of 90?. This includes

beer and food at the Oktoberfest worth 27?. Be advised, however, that you

will very likely spend a lot more money on beer — one beer is 8.50?.

Munich is generally an expensive place during the Oktoberfest, but as

usual, everything except for drinks is included for our participants.

The exchange will include two visits to the famous “Wiesn” along with

sightseeing to famous places such as Neuschwanstein, a nearby castle built

by Bavarian King Ludwig II.

For various organisational reasons we unfortunately cannot accept more

than 10-12 participants, the exact number is yet to be announced. We

encourage you very much to apply, after all this is a once in a lifetime

opportunity (unless we do it again next year) to visit the famous

Okotberfest with few fellow EESTECers!! Don’t miss out and send your

Kesäkuussa jyrähtelee Lopen suunnasta. EESTEC LC:t Helsinki, Tallinn ja Tampere järjestävät yhteisvoimin legendaarisen vuosittaisen virkistäytymisviikonlopun, eli WokShopin. Ajaksi on valikoitunut 11.-13.6 ja paikaksi riittävän tilava ranchi Lopella, Riihimäen kupeessa. Tänä vuonna olemme kutsuneet iloiset ystävämme Suomenlahden toiselta puolelta myös mukaan Wokkailemaan!

Paikalla on luonnollisesti Grilli ja Sauna. Tapahtuma on maksuton, mutta omat pullot ja pihvit pitää kaikkien tuoda ja omat pullot ja pihvit ja roskat viedään myös pois ettei isännälle tule liikoja siivottavia.

Majoitus onnistuu lattiatasossa tai teltan uumenissa, eli suotavaa olisi tuoda omat majoittumistarpeet, riippuen siitä kuinka mukavasti haluaakaan nukkua. Majoituksesta sisätiloissa huomioitakoon kissa eli kissa-allergisille suositellaan telttaa!

EESTEC LCs Helsinki, Tallinn and Tampere are organizing a weekend long joint event on 11.-13.6. at Loppi, Finland. The event is a LEGEN-waitforit-DARY annual event between the LCs. It’s organized on a “ranch” in an idyllic finnish countryside setting. This time around for the first time ever there’s also people coming from Estonia!

In the place there will be a grill and of course a Sauna. The event is free but you should bring your own booz and beef. It’s also expected that you take ‘em away with you. We don’t want to do harm to our host’s nice ranch!

The sleeping area is strictly on the floor so you do have to bring your own roll mat/sleeping bag. Inside the house there is a cat running around so if you are allergic you might consider sleeping outside in a tent enjoying the beautiful Finnish night.

Management Solution that is easy to install, use and extend” and the

IT team deeply agrees with this statement. It is one of the better to

do open source projects.

Want to do something with Plone? Come to our event!

The event itself will be a workshop, so you can expect to actually

work on things 8h+ per day instead of going sightseeing and partying

24/7. We will have a relaxation day in the middle and we will have

some evening entertainment every day. As most LC Helsinki events, the

schedule will mostly be a surprise until you actually experience it.

You can expect some pass-by touches by Finnish culture and our campus

culture.

We cannot tell how many EESTEC participants we can afford to host at

this moment, but we will not proceed with less than 5 participants and

the theoretical maximum is 18 participants.

We will be having 3 participation levels:

1) Learn about Plone basics (usage, development)

2) Develop MESS (Mandarin Event Scheduling System, currently used by

for example this event)

3) Develop Plone itself

Food costs and accommodation will be covered for EESTECcers and there

will be no participation fee for EESTECcers.

If you are an EESTECcer simply use this event system to apply for the

event. We’ll be expecting a detailed description of your technical

background in your motivational letter. Any prior Plone experience is

a plus, web development experience (graphical, usability, technology)

is a plus and especially Python knowledge is a huge plus. Any sort of

references you can share with us are beneficial. Also remember to

state onto which level you are applying for.

Naapurimme lahden toiselta puolelta järjestävät perinteisen SummerCamppinsa jälleen! Luvassa on tällä kertaa kikkailua Legojen ja muiden robottien kanssa sekä excuja paikallisiin yrityksiin.

Lisäksi luvassa on tutustumista kauniiseen ja historialliseen Tallinnaan sekä takuuvarmasti hieno ja hauska mökkiviikonloppu virolaisessa luonnossa. Vaikka saunominen, grillaus ja muut mökkitoimet eivät suomalaiselle ole ehkä ihmeellistä ja eksoottista, niin varmasti sekin on kokemus, jota ei kannata missata!

Omasta kokemuksesta voin sanoa, että SummerCamp on ollut ainakin minulle kautta aikain paras EESTEC-tapahtuma! Tämä on siis helppo tilaisuus tutustua mitä parhaaseen EESTEC-meininkiin, eikä tarvitse kauas lähteä!

LC Eskisehir (Turkki) kutsuu porukkaa IEEE:n kokoontumiseen 2.-7.7.

Wikipedia kertoo IEEE:stä seuraavaa:
“Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) on kansainvälinen tekniikan alan järjestö. Siihen kuuluu yli 370 000 jäsentä yli 160 maassa. Sen toiminnan piiriin kuuluu laaja julkaisutoiminta, tieteellisten konfrenssien järjestäminen, koulutuksen edistäminen sekä monien alan keskeisten standardien määrittely. IEEE julkaisee yhteensä 132 alan tärkeimpiin luettavia tiedejulkaisuja. Tältä pohjalta voidaankin sanoa että IEEE on maailman suurin ja merkittävin teknillinen järjestö.”

Tapahtumaan osallistuu noin 400 nykyistä ja jo valmistunutta sähköä opiskelevaa henkilöä, eli tapahtumassa on loistava tilaisuus luoda tärkeitä kontakteja.

Tapahtumassa on luvassa paljon aktivitetteja sekä laajoja ja mielenkiintoisia keskustelun aiheita, kuten tulevaisuuden peliteollisuus ja tietotekniikka. Ohjelmaan kuuluu toki nähtävyksiin ja turkkilaiseen kulttuuriin tutustumista sekä mielenkiintoisen kiehtovan Eskisehirin kaupungin kiertelyä.

Nyt olisi tarjolla mahdollisuus tukea Kreikan taloutta ja nähdä Kreikan meri 13.-20.7.

Tapahtuma on tyypiltään exchange/training, eli luvassa on sekä Ateenan historiallisia nähtävyyksiä, Kreikan kulttuuria, auringonottoa että harjoituksia ekologisuudesta. Ja mikäpä olisi parempi paikka näille harjoituksille kuin Kreikan upea saaristo.

Saariston hintatasosta johtuen tapahtumalle tulee 50 euron osallistumismaksu. Muuten kaikki (kuljetukset tapahtuman aikana, majoitukset sekä ruokailu) on hoidettu järjestävän tahon puolesta.

Mikäli haluat reissuun mukaan, täytä alla olevan osoitteen takaa löytyvä nettikilke ja ilmianna lähtöhalusi vielä minulle, viimeistään 25.5. Hakuaika on siis todella lyhyt.

What should you expect from your week in Greece? Just a couple of days in noisy but beautiful Athens and then we are packing our bags for one of the most famous greek islands, Skiathos – the place where <Mama Mia> movie was filmed! There we are going to spend 5 great days filled with swimming in our famous beaches, drinking ouzo, sunbathing, having amazing parties and enjoying all that Greece has to offer! But this is not going to be a totally lazy event! As our title says <no train, no gain> so some trainings are going to take place and also some presentations and activities about ecology & climate change! Due to the high cost in greek islands, this event unfortunately for you ,has a participation fee of 50 euro. We are very sorry for the late announcement (2 months before the event) but due to the Congress in March this was the best we could do.. So: let the application period begin! We are waiting for you!

Eikö ole kesätöitä? Ei hätää, lähde täysihoitoon Delftiin! LC Delft (Hollanti) järjestää nimittäin workshopin 6.-12.6.

Tämä workshop sopii ilmeisesti erityisesti ensimmäisen ja toisen vuosikurssin opiskelijoille, jotka eivät ole vielä pääainettaan valinneet. Workshopissa nimittäin osallistujat pääsevät tutustumaan sähköisiin ilmiöihin niin elektroniikka- kuin suurjännitelabroissakin ja huomaavat, että koolla on väliä. Paikallinen sähkötalokin on iso, ollen reilut 20 kerrosta korkea (ylhäältä on huikeat näköalat, been there).

Virallisen ohjelman lisäksi tiedossa on mm. retket Amsterdamiin, Scheveningeniin ja Haagiin sekä hollantilaiseen kulttuuriin tutustumista eri tavoin. Kaikki edellä mainitut paikat ovat aivan huikean kauniita.

Osallistuminen maksaa vain sen verran, mitä matkoihin menee. Paikan päällä ruokailu, majoitus ja ohjelma ovat ilmaisia.

Workshop Size Does Matter
In the first workshop to Delft in two years you will get a great chance in
getting to know Delft, Amsterdam and the rest of the Netherlands.The
Lectures and Excursions will be about the importance of size in Electrical
Engineering. We will visit a High Voltage Lab, a Microelectronics Lab and
join a conference on e-paper. Of course you will learn a lot about the
Dutch and especially the Delft traditions.

The TU Delft is one of the oldest western Universities of Technology. The
presence of students definitely left a mark in the historic city. The
city, where famous painters created their masterpieces,  now has a
nightlife that is entirely dominated by students. In our workshop we will
go into detail about the Delft student life at one hand, and the
importance of size in electrical engineering on the other.

Draft of the program:

The workshop will be in the week of the 5th  till the 10th  of June.
During the week you will feel how it is to be a little bit Dutch, get
firsthand experience in our party scene and learn/see some unique things
that only the Netherlands / Delft has to offer.

* On Sunday people are expected to arrive by bus, train or any other
means possible at the hosts. Some lucky participants may get the
chance to be picked up by the ETV board limo.
* On Monday, after the official opening, the participants will have a
chance to get to know our faculty (including the kick-ass research
labs we have).  In the afternoon you will go outside and you will see
the history of Delft. Of course this trip ends in one of Delfts
typical café’s were we will teach you how to go Dutch.
* On Tuesday morning we will teach you how to become a Delft student.
You will learn how a student gets around and how to tie a tie. In the
afternoon we will get to take part in the E-Paper conference.
* Wednesday will be all about Amsterdam. We will go there by train,
first have a guided tour and then some free time in the Dutch capital.
* We cannot  really say much about the program for Thursday. Some
lectures about the importance of size in Medical Engineering are in
the pipeline. We will, of course, do this in cooperation with our
local EMSA partner.
* Because of the exiting week, on Friday you’ll have a typical Delft
anti-hangover breakfast, on the roof of our library. In order to relax
some more, we will go to the beach of  Scheveningen. On the way there
the tram passes the Peace Palace in The Hague, were the International
Court of Justice is located. To make the week complete, you’ll get a
change to visit Madurodam, a museum were all famous Dutch landmarks
are rebuild in  miniature size so you can’t miss anything.
